Life's a Beach!

It's Beach Day! Is there a better way to spend a cold, snowy Saturday?

We started off making edible beaches. They thought this was great! Leah and Maddie loved helping crush the graham crackers to make sand and placing the Finding Nemo fruit snacks in the vanilla pudding (dyed blue) ocean. (Beth was off helping Dad fix the TV.)

Maddie is working on learning the letter J, so we made jellyfish. They had a lot of fun chasing each other and making the jellyfish wiggle.

All of our great beach-y projects: jellyfish, lobsters and beach scenes. The beach scenes were made from the great stickers Leah found at WalMart. It was a good review of our "b" colors, brown and blue as well as a classifying what things belong in the ocean and what belongs on the sand/land.

Cute lobsters made from two hand prints and a footprint. Kinda messy, but a LOT of fun! I was pleased at how well all three girls followed directions on this. The only thing to make this even cuter? Googly eyes!

Surf and Turf! (Well, more the "surf", not really the "turf" part.) Pretzel fish, sea animal chicken nuggets, hot dog "jellyfish" and green beans for seaweed (close enough, right?)... yum!

And we round out the great day with a swim in the blue ocean... er, bathtub.

After splashing with the boats, fish and sand toys, we jammied up and watched Finding Nemo on our beach towels and ate our beach dessert. All in all, it was a great way to beat the winter blahs and have fun hangin' 10 with our friends!
